Do you have a horse crazy child? Have you dreamed of learning to ride yourself but never had the chance?
Now at Relational Riding Academy riders of any age can learn to ride and have fun doing it in one of RRAs safe, fun and educational programs.

Do you think horseback riding is too expensive?
Riding at an academy is economical. You save the horse related expenses you fear, fulfill the possibility of learning to ride, AND develop that unique, sought after relationship with a special horse. At Relational Riding Academy, we offer a complete program for horse and rider. Whether you want to ride Western, English, Dressage, you want to jump or improve your equitation, this program provides a thorough education that creates partnership between horse and rider. Our lesson horses are safe, well trained schoolmasters experienced with riders of all ages and abilities. Have FUN learning to ride in private or group lessons!

Our focus is on creating a safe, fun, learning experience in an environment where the horses, the children AND the adults thrive.

Recommendations:
"I am so very impressed with Michelle's knowledge and style of teaching. I have worked with and seen a lot of coaches and teachers over the years, but seldom have I seen a teacher with the passion she has and the ability to get the students to visualize and perform the skills she teaches them. She is the best teacher and my grandson along with the other students are very lucky to have her as their instructor." J.S., Spokane, WA

SPRING, SUMMER and FALL LESSON SESSIONS
Enroll in any session throughout the year

RRA offers a three lesson sessions that meet weekly throughout the year. Our groups are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced students for both youth and adult riders. Participants may ride once a week or more in group lessons of up to 5 riders. Lessons are available for children of all ages and ability levels and are scheduled according to experience and age. Our horses are well trained former show horses that are experienced with the lesson program. Our program volunteers ensure that no child is unattended during the lesson. Participants must have helmets, long pants and proper footwear. Beginners learn the basics of horse care and tacking as well as develop their skills as riders. Lesson session includes 10 1 hour weekly group lessons.
Ground skills: Riders are expected to be able to catch groom, tack, lead and ride their own lesson horse by the end of session 1. For more information about the full curriculum, please email you request to: bmkb65@hotmail.com

“My daughter has been to many other horse camps and this one has been by far her favorite!” A.D.

RRA offers eight summer day camp sessions in 2024.
You can enroll your young person in our morning or afternoon camp sessions. Children arrive at the farm for the morning session at 9:00am and stay till 12:00pm OR the afternoon session from 1:30-4:30pm. Camp starts on Monday and ends on Friday and participants come every day. Our day camps are open to kids of all levels of experience and from ages 8 through 13. Sessions are limited to 20 participants and each has a qualified helper at all times in addition to the instructor. The session is divided into riding and educational group activities. Participants must have helmets, long pants and proper footwear and bring a snack from home to eat during the break. Children may enroll in more than one session. Cost is $300.00 per session.

CLEANING & SANITATION PROTOCOLS: There is an indoor restroom facility as well as 2 outdoor handwashing stations to avoid clustering at those stations. There will be an additional portable toilet. When campers arrive they will be asked to use the hand sanitizer at the door, and between changing activities. Between each scheduled lesson, we spray frequently handled door handles, light switches, bridles/reins, saddles, brushes, etc. with a 10% bleach solution and saddle soap. Masks are optional.

SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENTS: Because of the horses, "Social Distancing" is inherent in our programs. Riders are asked to keep 3 horse lengths between the horses at all times while they are riding. Helpers have 6-8 ft lead ropes plus the height difference between themselves and the rider. There are 4 areas on the farm that we work, so there are not more than 5 campers and one supervisor in any one area. The craft activity will be held in a 70X170 ft indoor space at separated personal work stations for each camper. The educational activities will take place outside where social distancing is easy. The final activity group will be held in the outdoor arena with games and outdoor exercise. Snack time is also going to be held in the 60X120 riding arena where each child can sit wherever they like and we can enforce 6 ft social distancing between campers during snack time. They bring their snack and waterbottle from home. We are an OUTDOOR activity, because of the size of our buildings and acreage, the fact that we split campers into small groups as a normal practice for camp, that the horses themselves REQUIRE a large "safe" distance between them, because we have already implemented the recommendations of the USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) and the USDA for safe operation in agricultural environments, we feel that we are doing everything possible to make camp a safe place. We DEPEND on parents keeping campers home if they are sick and I already have a standard practice of asking parents to take kids away from camp if they show allergies or illness anyways and I give refunds or option of returning to a subsequent camp. We have sufficient protocols in place to assure parents our camps are as safe as they can be.

Communication to Families and parents of campers: Parents will receive an email 2 weeks before camp that includes our release form, registration form, horse related activities warning form. Camp Coordinator: Christine Field email: heartfelt_tutor@gmail.com

  • Relational Riding™ correctly done, truly begins with the rider. Gentleness, compassion, respect and love of the magnificent creature that is the horse pervade the training. In the RRA horseback riding lesson program the rider learns to understand how their body affects the horse's movements and attitudes. They learn to apply the basic aids necessary for communicating with the horse.

The rider, learns to maintain a balanced seat and develops a harmonious relationship with the horse. The lesson program incorporates the best natural horsemanship techniques and combines them with fundamental dressage training to produce a more complete understanding of the horse/rider relationship. I believe that all horses and riders, regardless of their fields of interest or performance, benefit from basic Relational Riding™ techniques. I believe the basic principles begin with the "balanced seat". This is easily recognized in all horseback riding disciplines by the "ear, shoulder, hip and heel line".

In developing Relational Riding™, I have incorporated techniques and philosophies from instructors, trainers and riders from all over the world. By becoming part of the Relational Riding™ lesson program you will learn and experience correct Classical training. The Relational Riding™ program cultivates a working relationship for you and your horse, accesses therapeutic techniques that increase health and vitality, and develops the horses gaits and abilities as well as your own. Relational Riding™ students are riding and showing successfully in several disciplines from the local level to USEF recognized shows. Since 1988, Traditional Dressage students have routinely scored from 65 to up to 80+% percent, earned countless ribbons, and qualified for Regional and National Championships in a variety of disciplines. Our riders have accumulated 34 WD World and NationalTitles. Contact Michelle to discuss joining the lesson program, training fees and lesson availability or rehab.
